What positions are open?
Hi. I'm new here, but interested in Wartide.

Your website is kinda buggy so I can't get info on open positions. Can someone fill me in.

Re: What positions are open?
It's not so much buggy as it is just unfinished/WIP xD It's actually getting a complete redesign soon.

Anyway, we have openings in all positions currently.

Re: What positions are open?
Ah. I think a junior designer position would work for me.

Resume: I wrote a ten-minute play, and here is an excerpt from a scenario I wrote for a 40k rpg:
--
Background:

It's a damn nuisance, keeping an eye on those squabbling natives, but that makes 'em natural soldiers, and less training needed, thank the Emperor. Lately, there's been a lot more tithes coming here...
- Captain Jerl Opus, B Company, 142nd Cadian, assigned to Kel's Flame.

Located in the Drusus Marches sub-sector of the Calixis Sector, Kel's Flame is a world consisting of a single large landmass with some islands scattered off the southwestern continental coastline. Officially classified as a feudal world, it has been restricted by the Imperium to a technological level equating to the period 600-700.M2 (ie: the 17th century, Thirty Year's War.) Unfortunately for the planetary administration, the reason is quite simple. With the exception of the city of Carnvis, the 42 million people of the planet is locally under the control of 12 nations, which are constantly at war with each other.

Carnvis is a city of 1.7 million, and is the only place with no tech limits. It is indistinguishable from any other average Imperial city, and is the location of the planetary governor's administration. The PDF has its headquarters here, and is supplemented by a small force of Arbites and two companies of Cadians settled here to provide expert trainers for PDF and tithed recruits.

All nations have their militaries armed with black-powder weaponry, cannons, swords, pikes, etc. Tactics consist of the usage of massed infantry and artillery, and heavy and light cavalry. Generally, the planetary administration keeps its head turned away, provided the nations do their duties, including paying taxes and tithed troops. They do keep their eyes and ears open for possible weapons and technology violations, and crackdowns for such offenses are handled by the PDF.

The political situation notwithstanding, Kel's Flame is a fairly beneficial world. The constant warfare produces hardened soldiers who fight well, and despite the persistence of war on Kel's Flame, it is also a reliable producer of agricultural products, which are included in special taxes, and exported off-world through Carnvis' spaceport.

But now, unhappily, the squabbles that are merely a spot of annoyance, is now about to to become possibly the doom of the world...

Situation:

Latritsa is a nation on Kel's Flame occupying the southwest, and controls the islands off its shores. Recently, its leaders, the oligarchic Council of Seven, have begun an foolish and traitorous plot to dominate the planet and wrest off the Emperor's light.

It is aided by a cell of the Flames of the Emperor, an off-world cult that answers to Yakov Fisk, a misguided Inquisitor of the Recongregator philosophy. With the assistance of the manipulations of their patron, the cult has sneaked las and solid shot ammunition and weaponry with the aid of greedy smugglers through the spaceport of Carnvis. From there, they move disguised trade carts to the islands off Latritsa, which were granted to them by the council to use as a base.

In addition to procuring and storing the weapons in a major cache on the island, the cultists are training the Special Corps, a secret Latritsan unit totaling tens of thousands of men, to use these properly.

The master plan guiding these rebels is simple. The Latritsans will launch a major surprise offensive against the neighboring nations of Jaos, Slik, and Odis, intentionally revealing evidence of tech ban violations to draw in the PDF. Then, the Special Corps will attack and destroy an overconfident enemy. The prestige and foreign fear that will be generated from such a victory will convince the other nations to give in, or so the Council thinks.

Just before the beginning of the offensive, the Flames mount a series of bombings at border fortresses and villages, to provide such proof. However, one of the bombers is captured in Jaos, and eventually secured by the Arbites in Carnvis.

His interrogators recognize him as a member of a cult, throwing the planetary governor into confusion. Unable to decide between shocking coincidence or abominable connection, he contacts the Inquisition. The PCs are the team sent in...

Re: What positions are open?
Yeah- planned on getting to it sooner so I hadn't originally felt it necessary to send confirmation of reception and action but I've been a bit busier lately than I'd expected to be.

These things happen. It's perfectly fine.

By the way, why do I imagine the bio-freaks as something analogous to the Lost and the Damned from the 40k universe? I mean, it works out like this:

Quote:The bio-freaks have no qualms against amassing large numbers of units
Bio-freak spam: Mutants with all the various mutations, Chaos Hounds, Gibbering Spawn.

Quote:they also have enormous biological "tanks" which can wade through enemies

Bio-freak "tanks": Chaos Spawn, Big Mutants.

And their "officers", of course.
Bio-freak "officers": Chaos Aspiring Champions. Bio-freak officers would be like that sort of, by having the elite fighting skills that the 'spam' units don't have, having normal or greater intelligence, which is more than you can say for the 'tanks', and some form of natural control, through fear, mind-control, genes in the minions to obey, etc.

As far as I know he's not and is basically just reciting my own replies to his questions.

Anyway, I can't say much in the public area other than that the "officers" are very far from Chaos Aspiring Champions.

As for the major influences for the Biofreaks, those stem more from a mix of the Yuuzhan Vong, Zerg, and Tyrannid with additional elements mixed in. Imo, they are distinctly unique but as always for biotechnology races the proof is in the details which ofc we haven't released yet.

Re: What positions are open?
When I said Chaos Champions, I was referring to their beneficial attributes. And I think those attributes are similar in ways to those you've mentioned. That's all.

Not really certain what Wartide material you're referencing atm so I'm not really certain how much you know about our plans for the Biofreaks or not- if you're just taking what I know I've said publicly about the biofreaks and then also taking what I know I've said publicly about officers and combining those two individually then my prior statement still stands as the biofreaks' officers are different. A link to your reference would be appreciated though (most of those are out-of-date atm as we're working on sorting out our site atm so most of the info you'll find other places is generally over a year old).

Re: What positions are open?
Yeah, that is the most out of date post of all. Want to fix it up a bit while we work on our site but Taer is working on the Samods site atm so I don't have access to modify that content at the moment- going to ask Magic about it again the next time I see him on msn.

Anyway, the biggest change that I can publicly confirm that is on there is that we are using the currently in development Sakura engine (which does use OpenGL) and not Ogre. I can also say that the Protectorate is not using Metalstorm.

And yeah, I said almost nothing about officers there and actually what I did say would be highly misleading for the biofreaks xD

Re: What positions are open?
I was aware of the new engine and most other updates, but naturally, I know nothing about Sakura, thus motivating me to apply for design, and not programming. That and I'm feel better at design a little more than coding.
